WHAT A WVBC 2022 WEEKEND IT WAS!

Welcome to the West Virginia Breeders Classics!

In its more 30 years, the West Virginia Breeders Classics event has generated over $30 million in purses for the breeders and horsemen of West Virginia and become the premier horse racing event on Charles Town’s fall calendar.

And we’re more than just racing.  The West Virginia Breeders Classics includes a golf tournament, as well as making charitable donations to important local and statewide organizations.

The brainchild of National Football League Hall of Famer and West Virginia native Sam Huff, the West Virginia Breeders Classics are a one-night event with a year-round impact.

You can see the list of 2022 winners at right, and you can check out our news page for all the action.

WVBC 2022 RACING

What a night West Virginia Breeders’ Classics 2022 was!

Muad’dib successfully defended his title in the Classic, holding off a game try from longshot Martin Man. In so doing, Muad’dib became the seventh horse to win multiple editions of the big one.

Penguin Power etched his name in the WVBC record books. His win in the Dash for Cash was, along with three prior wins in the Onion Juice, his fourth in the WVBC. He joins Confucius Say as the only horses to win four WVBC races.

Hessica won the Cavada, giving owner-breeder-trainer Kristy Petty her first WVBC win as the trainer of record.

The day’s big upset went to C R’s Mandate. The Raimondo Schiano-DiCola trainee paid $55.00 as the second-longest shot on the board in the Onion Juice.

And so much more…
