WVBC 2022 WEEKEND KICKS OFF FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7, WITH THE RACES OCTOBER 8!

Welcome to the West Virginia Breeders Classics!

In its more 30 years, the West Virginia Breeders Classics event has generated over $30 million in purses for the breeders and horsemen of West Virginia and become the premier horse racing event on Charles Town’s fall calendar.

And we’re more than just racing.  The West Virginia Breeders Classics includes a golf tournament, as well as making charitable donations to important local and statewide organizations.

The brainchild of National Football League Hall of Famer and West Virginia native Sam Huff, the West Virginia Breeders Classics are a one-night event with a year-round impact.

The 2022 West Virginia Breeders Classics — the 36th Classic! — will take place on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2022 at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races. New this year:

  • The top race, the $300,000 Classic, has been renamed the Sam Huff West Virginia Breeders’ Classic.
  • Friday morning features the annual Sam Huff Golf Classic at Locust Hill Golf Course in Charles Town.
  • The annual Gala will take place Friday, October 7 at the Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown.
  • Saturday’s activities at the track will include a Hat Contest with $3,000 in cash prizes.

You can see the list of 2021 winners at right, and you can check out our news page for all the action.
